OIG Exclusion Search
Overview
The Office of Inspector General, or OIG, maintains a list of individuals and entities that are excluded from federally funded health care, typically due to convictions for Medicare or Medicaid fraud. This list is called the List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Quote, "Anyone who hires an individual or entity on the LEIE may be subject to civil monetary penalties (CMP)." To avoid liability, agencies should routinely check the list to ensure that caregivers are not on the exclusions list.
Ankota is directly linked to the OIG so that you can quickly check your caregivers against their LEIE database. To check caregivers, simply select them on the caregivers search page and then click the OIG Search button.
OIG Exclusion Check Process
SEARCH
Go to the Caregivers page (Users --> Caregivers), then click Search without entering anything in the filter. (This will pull up all caregivers.)
If you want to filter for specific caregivers, you can search for their names only in the Filter: box.
SELECT
After selecting caregivers, scroll to the bottom. (You may wish to unselect the Ankota caregiver so that you don't include them in the search.)
Then click the OIG Search button.
REVIEW PDF LIST
The search will be performed and a PDF will be created with the results. If the names and cross-referenced dates of birth are not found on their exclusion list, they will come back as "clean." If they match the exclusion list, that information will be displayed.
