Massachusetts ID management is unique. See below for detailed information on which IDs to use when.

General Information

Routing Logic 

In Massachusetts, there are only 2 acceptable client identifiers for EVV reporting:

1. MassHealth Medicaid ID

2. AGE Consumer ID

MassHealth Medicaid ID

• A 12-digit identifier beginning with "100..."

✅ Use the MassHealth Medicaid ID when the Payer Type is:

• ACO

• MCO

• One Care

• SCO

• FFS

❌ Do NOT use the MassHealth Medicaid ID when the client's Payer is:

• ASAP

• MAELD (Executive Office of Aging)

AGE Consumer ID

• A 10-digit identifier beginning with "13..."

✅ Use the AGE Consumer ID when the Payer Type is:

• ASAP

• MAELD (Executive Office of Aging)

❌ Do NOT use the AGE Consumer ID when the client's Payer is:

• ACO

• MCO

• One Care

• SCO

• FFS

Additional Client Identifier FAQs

🔸 Some clients will have both a MassHealth Medicaid ID and an AGE Consumer ID. Others may only have one of the two identifiers.

🔸 When troubleshooting a "Client Not Found" error, check the identifier being used:

• If it does not begin with "100..." or "13...", that's a 🚩 red flag that an accepted client identifier may not be being used.

🔸 Providers should be directed to the appropriate Payer to obtain the correct client identifier.

🔸 If a Provider is unable to obtain the appropriate identifier from a Payer despite repeated efforts, they should be encouraged to contact the State of Massachusetts (EVVfeedback@mass.gov) and report the challenges they are experiencing.
