Transportation Management

Overview

Ankota supports transportation management with several features, including route view, route management, and drag-and-drop corrections to the route. Please note mapping functionality is not defaulted in all environments; reach out to Ankota Support if you do not have this and would like to add this to your environment. See below for an outline of this function.

Zones

First, you will need to define your Zones (zip code "groupings") on the Zone page so you can easily filter visits based on their area. The Zones page is typically placed under a Mapping section. 


To define your zone, first click "Add New Zone" and then name the zone. The name can be anything that will help you identify the location. Save when done.


Next, define the zip codes associated with this zone by clicking Zip Codes for that zone, adding the zip code, and clicking the Save Zip Code button. When you are finished, click the Close button at the bottom.


The zones are now built. Note you can also select multiple zones when searching for visits.



Scheduling Visits

Next, schedule visits as usual, including assigning a driver. Note for Transportation visit types (may also be called Pickup, Delivery, or another name), the driver typically clocks in as they park in front of the pick-up location, and clocks out after the client entered the vehicle when the driver is ready to leave. A typical pickup "visit" is approximately 5 minutes for this reason.


Schedule Visits - TSP (Driver/Pickup Mapping Management)

First, go to the Visits page and filter for a single date and a zone or zones. Select the visits and click the Schedule Visits - TSP button. When you have done so, a series of options will come up. Adjust your options as needed, then click the Schedule Visits button.


A new pop-up will appear which will show the mapped series of visits.


Reorganizing the Mapped Series

Sometimes, you may need to reorganize the suggested route. To do so, simply drag and drop the locations on the Schedule Visits - TSP pop-up window if you wish to change their order. Alternately, you can unassign a visit and give it to another driver. (Note: this feature is only available via the Schedule Visits - TSP button.)



Map Visits Button

To view the day's schedule, go to the Visits page, filter for the desired visits, and then click Map Visits. Please note the Map Visits button is for view only, purely to view the existing planned pickup schedule. This button is most useful for staff that need to be able to review the visits, but do not have permission to reorganize the schedule.
